Nia and Yoga Retreat
on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia

Enjoy 7 blissful days at a private Eco-Retreat Centre situated on the peaceful Caribbean shore of north Colombia with co-hosts Jennifer Hicks (Nia Instructor) & Beatrix Montanile (Yoga Instructor).
Mornings will begin with deep breathing and gentle yoga stretches followed by meditation on the beach. After a healthy organic breakfast, a full day of interesting activities await you: frolic under the Quebrada Valencia Waterfalls; observe flamingos as they feed at a desert salt water lagoon; float lazily down the Palomino River on inner tubes; jungle hike on foot or horseback through Tayrona National Park and explore archaeological ruins.

Carlisle: Pictures from Habitat for Humanity Jam
On Sunday, April 27, Nia instructors, students and newbies got together for a fund-raising, roof-raising Jam that scored $1200 net profit for Habitat for Humanity Halton and the Nia-supported Georgetown build. For almost two hours, Nia instructors Anna Schantz, Anja Gurnig, Brigita Roube, Barb Wight, Lisa Sidorowicz, Janet Ragan and Mary Baxter held the space for MMM for 40 transported students! A Jam is a delightful way to create community. Much love to our Nia community and their spreading of the Joy!

Mental Health Week Event

Toronto - May 5th, 2006 - Nia Teachers Cinzia Cavalieri, Valerie McGiverin, Tessie Ostonal and Vita Wind presented Nia in the Toronto Metro Hall Rotunda for the Canadian Mental Health Association during the Mental Health Week. The "Oasis in the City" event organizers transformed the space into a beautiful Zen garden!

Dance & Decorate to Heal Nia Jam Pictures
Newmarket - April 30th - Nia Teachers from York Region MaryLynn Baran, Bettina Braj, Cinzia Cavalieri, Caroline Dupont and Sandy Feldstein along with a joyful group of participants brought the magic of Nia to Southlake Regional Health Centre and completed the last portion of the Soaringwords series of jams.
We danced the healing power of Nia, we decorated more quilts and we donated them to the Pediatric floor to bring hope, colours and love to the children. Thank you for the great support to all the participants!

The Grey Bruce Nia Teachers and the Cancer Society were Dancing Together in Owen Sound!
On April 1st, the Nia teachers of Grey Bruce came together to help kick off the Cancer Society’s daffodil drive and spread the ‘Joy of Movement’ in Owen Sound. Wendy, Vita, Susan and Jean were supported and energized by many students, friends and Nia teachers who traveled from far and wide to ‘move and groove’ with us. We would like to express our thanks to all of those who attended. Not only did we raise funds to support the Owen Sound Cancer Society and NIAC, but this small and energized Nia contingency banded together, fusing their individual strengths, to produce a very special day as well as creating an everlasting bond.
