NIAC - The Nia Instructors Association of Canada

NIAC would like to invite all the Nia Instructors in Canada to join our Association as we create a unified, cohesive body dedicated to supporting ALL Nia teachers in their professional endeavors. By joining forces, we have the strength of our numbers, our collective resources and energy, our time and talents.

The first Nia classes were introduced to the Greater Toronto Area in 1994. See our Teachers page to learn more about this dynamic and creative group of people. The list of teachers is steadily growing as more people are becoming certified. To find Nia classes near you, see our Find A Class page.
Mission Statement
The purpose of this group of certified Nia teachers from Canada is to unite as teachers in an atmosphere of trust and co-operation in order to realize our own personal development, and to effectively facilitate personal growth and development in our students, fostering the Nia philosophy and promoting accessibility for all.

Why belong to NIAC?

In the true spirit of Nia, we wish to offer benefits to every belt-holder, in body, mind and spirit. We recognize that each of us has our own unique perspectives and desires, and as a result we have created a triad of objectives to fill these needs.

As a Promotional Organization, we will strive to raise the profile of Nia amongst the public and within the Fitness and Wellness industries, with advertising, public appearences, special events, NIAC website and support from Portland.

As an Educational Body, we wish to offer ongoing experiences and professional development in the movement forms, and related areas, (in the form of guest presenters, workshops, etc.), certification trainings such as CPR, as well as the sharing of resources, experiences and talents within our own Nia community.

As a Supportive Network, we can offer a central source of information and communication; a mentoring program for new teachers; a sounding board to share ideas, concerns and successes; the power of numbers to obtain trade discounts on clothing, music, books, insurance and more; and an opportunity to remain connected socially and spiritually.
